Real Estate Finance
Stephanie is a real estate finance expert, having acted for a large number of English, German and Islamic commercial and mortgage banks, non-bank debt providers, funds, borrowers and developers, on a variety of loan facility and restructuring transactions.
She has significant experience in managing real estate finance transactions and has run deals with large portfolios of properties, often requiring numerous and varied security and ancillary documents.
WORK HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE

Led and managed a number of syndicated lending deals for an established German bank. This included financing property developments, acquisitions and investments, involving structures such as property unit trusts, and subordination of debt.

Worked closely with a UK bank on a number of deals, mostly involving development finance. Highlights include acting for a syndicate of three lenders in respect of a multi-million-pound secured loan to fund the acquisition and development of a London property, as well as a bilateral loan made to a well-known residential developer.

Advised a British private and merchant bank on a multi-million-pound term loan facility made to a Jersey incorporated borrower to fund the acquisition of a Watford property. Additionally advised on a loan to fund the acquisition by an LLP of a large multi let shopping complex.

Acted for a hotel owner operator in raising of finance. This included reviewing and negotiating the finance documentation and dealing with the release of shares from an existing charge given by the parent company to another lender.

Advised a fund specialising in lending for residential development.

Advised a well-known British bank on the refinancing of an existing portfolio of pubs and bars as well as the subsequent financing of the acquisition of additional bars.

Advised a Swedish bank on dealing with additional security being taken to cure significant financial covenant breaches of a multi-million-pound loan facility to two companies.

Acted for an alternative property investment company in drafting new precedent real estate finance documents for the client to use in house going forwards, including a cost overrun guarantee, legal mortgage over property and personal guarantee.

Acted for a retail and commercial bank. Work included drafting a bespoke development loan agreement for the bank, which required careful drafting as the bank wished to roll it out in house for smaller loans, without further recourse to lawyers each time.

Acted for a bank which provides Sharia compliant banking services. This included assisting on a Sharia finance murabaha facility for the refinancing of the purchase price and purchase costs associated with the acquisition of two properties used as student accommodation.
