COP29 – the 29th annual United Nations climate meeting – starts today in Baku.
Our Head of ESG, Chris Kerr, will be following it closely and keeping you up to date.
Chris says: "It is a pivotal COP for governments, businesses and other groups to accelerate action on the goals set by the Paris Agreement and more recent COPs. Turning previously made commitments into tangible action is the main focus of this COP and as a result, climate finance will be the centre point for negotiations.
The recent COP15 for Biodiversity did not deliver from a financial perspective, so all eyes will be on nations to agree a more quantified goal in Azerbaijan."
