We are attending the Jobs and Internships Fair at @cardiffuni next week!

Last week, our Head of ESG, Christopher Kerr attended Ocean and Coastal Futures (OCF) 2025 at the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG).

Coastal Futures is the largest ocean conference of its kind in the UK and the 2025 edition will provide delegates with wide-ranging coverage of the critical current and future issues.

Speaking about the event, Christopher said:
“It was wonderful to be in the same room as so many people and organisations that care deeply about coastal communities and the ocean itself. It the first time I have seen a conference consider the land-sea interaction so carefully and thoroughly, which gives me hope for a better tomorrow. A philosophy of our coastal regeneration SIG is that healthy seas lead to healthy communities and vice versa, but getting that balance right is extremely difficult especially without sufficient policy and investment in place to make it happen. At Coastal Futures, I was pleased to see such an emphasis on a‘whole system’ approach to spatial planning which analyses the different stakeholders needs, challenges and opportunities both upstream and downstream. There was also a real focus on data and science and the need for greater national and local analysis and decision-making going forward on marine-spatial planning. Ultimately, there needs to be greater joined-up thinking on how we best manage our coastal areas with an increased need for offshore energy infrastructure, marine protected areas, the blue economy including fishing activity to achieve their noble but sometimes competing objectives in limited space. We look forward to working with many of the organisations that attended the event in the race to the 2030 targets.”

Last week, Client Director Sean Gardner and planning Partner Stephanie Hall attended the @nationalhways Property and Compensation Conference, which was attended by over 100 people.

Together with Rachel Martin, from @gowlingwlg_uk, they presented on best practice in CPO compensation claims including a guide to the use of alternative dispute resolution.

Reflecting on the day, Sean said:

"It was a great chance to meet with all our clients from all regional offices and discuss the issues they're facing."

Yesterday, Jemima and Molly delivered a workshop at the @uniofexeter for their law with professional placement students.

Molly completed her placement year with us last year, and is now completing her the final year of her law degree at the University of Exeter.

Lexis Nexis has reissued vols 41(3) and 41(4) (Planning) of the Encyclopaedia of Forms and Precedents.

We are delighted to announce that planning partner and listed heritage assets expert, Nigel Hewitson, is the sole contributor to the volumes, which, in addition to providing relevant forms and precedents include a 270 page overview of planning law.

Nigel commented: "It's a big job that takes up a lot of time but it certainly keeps my knowledge of my specialist area up to date! I certainly don't need to do much else in the way of CPD! I hope practitioners find the updated volumes useful."
